The New York Sirens were full of young talent this season, with forwards like Kristýna Kaltounková, Casey O’Brien, and Maddi Wheeler making themselves known. Key veterans like Sarah Fillier and Kayle Osborne also had strong seasons.
Let’s look back on three of the best moments of the 2025–26 season for the Sirens.
Moment #3: Takeover Tour in Washington, D.C.
On January 18, 2026, the New York Sirens and the Montréal Victoire set a new PWHL attendance record for a game in the United States, drawing a crowd of 17,228 fans. The action on the ice did not disappoint, either.
Kayle Osborne made 31 of 32 saves, including 12 key saves in the third period to maintain her team’s 2–1 lead. She completely robbed Marie-Philip Poulin—according to the referees and the central situation room; some might argue the puck crossed the line.
Perhaps the biggest headline was the brawl that broke out as the final buzzer sounded. Four Sirens players and four Victoire players received 10-minute misconducts, and Taylor Girard received another 20 minutes and a four-game suspension (later reduced to three) for leaving the bench to join the fight.
Moment #2: Sarah Fillier’s natural hat trick and OT winner
Fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive on April 1, 2026, Sarah Fillier was the main reason the Sirens came away with two points instead of none. Down 3–1 in the third, Fillier scored two goals in 14 seconds in front of a raucous home crowd at the Prudential Center. Then, with just 15 seconds left in overtime, she completed the natural hat trick, putting the puck between defender Lee Stecklein’s legs and past the glove of Maddie Rooney.
Moment #1: Win at Madison Square Garden
On April 4, 2026, the New York Sirens finally had the well-deserved opportunity to play at one of the world’s most famous arenas. They broke their own U.S. attendance record (previously set in D.C.) with a crowd of 18,006. Fillier scored the game-tying goal in the third period off a beautiful pass from Anne Cherkowski.
The game went to a shootout, where both Fillier and defender Maja Nylén Persson scored, and Osborne made four out of five saves to secure the win.
