The Boston Fleet fell just short of their Walter Cup aspirations, but they had a strong season from start to finish, with great performances all across their lineup.
Here are some of the highlights of their 2025–26 season.
Moment #3: The epic comeback vs. Montréal
On March 15, 2026, the Boston Fleet were down 3–0 to the Montréal Victoire going into the third period. Loren Gabel made it 3–1 about six minutes in.
Shortly after, Boston was awarded a five-minute power play after Maggie Flaherty received a game misconduct. The Fleet decided to make a gamble.
With 9:14 to go, the Fleet pulled goaltender Aerin Frankel for an extra attacker. It didn’t result in a goal for Boston—but it also didn’t result in a goal for Montréal. Frankel returned to the net 13 seconds later, but the pulling attempts did not end there.
With 4:00 left, the Fleet put out an extra attacker and managed to make it 3–2 thanks to a one-timer from Megan Keller about a minute and a half later. With just under two minutes left, Boston pulled Frankel once more and succeeded in completing the three-goal comeback with 14.8 seconds remaining, with a goal from Susanna Tapani. The Fleet then took the game in overtime thanks to Ella Huber.
In a way, Boston’s empty net got a shutout.
Moment #2: Alina Müller’s nasty shootout goal and Kris Sparre’s reaction
Alina Müller helped her team secure the win with two shootout goals. The first goal was one of the nastiest we’ve ever seen in the league. And Kris Sparre’s reaction was priceless.
Moment #1: Cleaning up at the PWHL Awards
The Fleet absolutely swept the awards, winning MVP (Aerin Frankel), Goaltender of the Year (Frankel), Defender of the Year (Megan Keller), Rookie of the Year (Haley Winn), and Coach of the Year (Kris Sparre).
The good news is that Boston will see all of those key pieces return except Sparre, who has moved to become head coach of the new PWHL Hamilton franchise.
