Who Is Harvey?

Growing up in Pelham, New Hampshire, Harvey developed her top-tier foundation playing through the North American Hockey Academy (NAHA) program before attending the University of Wisconsin.

At Wisconsin, she served as the undisputed weapon and co-captain of the Badgers’ powerhouse program. She operates as a dynamic, elite two-way defenceman who controls the pace of play with her shutdown defence and dominant offensive production from the blue line.

Her international record is nothing short of breathtaking. A multi-time gold medalist and Best Defender at the IIHF World Championships, Harvey recently dominated the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics with Team USA, receiving the tournament MVP and Best Defender awards with a spectacular 9-point performance in just seven games.

Her path to the draft can be categorized as nothing short of excellence. After she deferred during her freshman year in 2021 to play in the Beijing Olympics at just 18 years old, she spent four stellar seasons stamping the Wisconsin record books, closing out her collegiate career this spring with her third National Championship.

What Harvey Brings to the Table

Harvey is a franchise-altering blueliner who combines world-class skating mechanics with elite hockey IQ to dominate in every zone.

  • Elite Transition and Mobility: Harvey’s edge work and acceleration allow her to retrieve the puck under heavy pressure, spin off checks effortlessly, and create transitions. Her averaging well over a point per game this past season speaks to her ability to carry or pass the puck cleanly out of the D-zone.
  • Power-Play Quarterbacking: She toes the blue line with an incredible presence, manipulating penalty-killing with deceptive eyes and no-look passes. She has an intuitive ability to find seams, and her accurate shots create opportunities for second-chance rebounds for her net-front forwards.
  • Gap Control: Offence aside, Harvey is a nightmare to play against in transition. She uses her elite footwork to keep an incredibly tight gap, forcing turnovers early with an aggressive stick and consistently converting defensive stops into counter-attacks.

Areas to Develop

There really aren’t any flagrant holes in Harvey’s game, but the PWHL is a heavy, aggressive league down low. Adjusting to the consistent physical toll of playing against the world’s most elite players along the boards and in front of the net will be her primary transition challenge.

Where Could She Land?

Projected 1st Round, 1st Overall (Consensus Lock).

Specific Teams: The Vancouver Goldeneyes secured the top draft spot via the Gold Plan at the end of the regular season. We can expect that Vancouver general manager Cara Morey will absolutely select Harvey to serve as their new franchise player and the cornerstone of their defensive operations.

The Bottom Line

Harvey is a plug-and-play superstar whose realistic ceiling is incredibly promising. She is destined to be a PWHL First-Team All-Star and multi-time Defender of the Year winner. She truly is a generational catalyst who will elevate her team to championship contention the second she puts on the jersey.
